MAN HELD FOR RAPE ATTEMPT ON NEIGHBOUR IN DHOLPUR
A 32-year-old man was arrested for attempt to rape at Kharoli village in Dholpur district, the police said on Sunday.
The incident took place on Friday night, but an FIR was filed by the victim’s husband, Daulat Koli (29), at the Sar Mathura police station on Saturday evening, the police said.
Sources said it was only after intervention from Dholpur Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajesh Singh the FIR was filed by the local police. The victim’s family had approached the SP over the issue.
According to the complaint filed by the victim’s husband, his wife was asleep in the house when the accused, Ashok Meena, barged into the house at around 10.30 pm and tried to rape his wife at knife point. When the woman raised an alarm, Meena tried to flee from the spot, but was caught by her husband. However, Meena attacked Koli and bit his nose before managing to escape, the complainant stated.
Meena was arrested following the complaint was filed against him. The accused has been arrested under Sections 458, 324, 326, 376/511 of the IPC, the Dholpur SP said. The accused is a neighbour of the victim, he added.
The victim and her husband were taken to hospital. They were discharged after medical examination.
