RTU Kota grades engineering colleges, only 9 of 116 in Grade A
To help engineering aspirants identify the best colleges and to ensure quality technical education in such institutes, the Rajasthan Technical University (RTU) has begun grading the engineering colleges affiliated to it.
There are 116 engineering colleges in Rajasthan affiliated with the RTU, its vice-chancellor, Professor NP Kaushik, said, adding they bane granted grades based on their ‘Quality Index Value’.
“Each engineering college has been graded on the scale of 1000 marks, which are based on parameters such as admissions, placements, infrastructure, course accreditation, and student-teacher ratio among others,” he said.
“Based on the cumulative marks secured, engineering colleges scoring 600 or more have been marked as Grade ‘A’, those scoring in between 400 and 599 as Grade ‘B, and colleges scoring less than 400 marks have been put in Grade ‘C’.”
“While nine engineering colleges have made it to Grade A, 24 are in Grade B and 83 in Grade C,” he said, adding that the grading has been done in a very transparent manner whereby the performance of the college on the declared parameters were sought and verified at RTU in Kota.
The V-C said grading system will remain dynamic and the engineering colleges will be able to improve their ranking by improving performance on the set parameters.
“It will help engineering aspirants select the quality institutions affiliated with the RTU,” he said in view of the mushrooming growth of engineering colleges in the state.
