BJP celebrates victory in Gujarat, Himachal polls
Celebrations broke out at BJP state headquarters in Jaipur on Monday as the party secured majority in assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state of Gujarat.
Party supporters gathered in large numbers at the office, burst firecrackers and distributed sweets amid beating of drums.
BJP state unit president Ashok Parnami, organisational secretary Chandrashekhar, other senior party leaders and some state ministers were present on the occasion.
Waiving the party flag, BJP supporters greeted each other over the victory of the party which is set to retain power for consecutive sixth term in Gujarat.
Chief minister Vasundhara Raje, in a statement, attributed the victory to “charismatic leadership” of Prime Minister Modi and “organisational skills” of BJP president Amit Shah.

Party state president Parnami, meanwhile, took a dig at former chief minister Ashok Gehlot on his remarks about EVMs, saying Gehlot should have faith in the democracy.
“It is the people who elect a government and the people who remove a government. The Congress comments on the Election Commission were inappropriate,” he said in a separate statement.
