Shame UPA govt couldn’t realise 2G was a trap: Raja
Day after getting clean chit from a trial court in the 2G spectrum case, former telecom minister A Raja wrote an emotional letter to his mentor and DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi, thanking him for standing by his side through thick and thin.
Expressing his extreme sadness over the loss the Dravidian movement suffered due to “a false scam foisted on him and Kanimozhi”, Raja wondered as to who would punish those who tainted the reputation of Kalaignar.
“It was nothing but a politically motivated vendetta to falsely implicate the UPA government,” Raja said, adding it was shocking that the government could not realise that it was getting into a trap. “There was a ploy to bring the government down”, Raja said in his letter.
“Who will punish those who tainted your 80-year public life?” Raja said in his letter.
“I place the 2G verdict at your feet with gratitude. You preserved me in snow so I wouldn’t dissolve in the spectrum battle,” Raja said, adding that the spec-

The former Union minister, whom Karunanidhi backed strongly despite murmurs of protests within the DMK, said the campaign was mounted to build a perception of a scam when there was none.
“The media did not see the mobile telephony revolution that took place. In 2009 alone, we gave 59 crore mobile connections against the target of 60 crore set for 2012,” Raja said.
“The spectrum cartel was broken to pave the way for the WhatsApp Facebook Twitter revolution. Calling it a crime and jailing (people) for this will happen only in India,” Raja said.
