JIFF to begin on Jan 6, S Bohra to get award

The tenth Jaipur Internatio­nal Film Festival (JIFF) will begin with Hindi film, ‘Angrezi Me Kahte Hain’, on January 6, and end with the Hollywood flick, ‘Lies We Tell’, on January 10.

Festival director Hanu Roj said ‘Angrezi Me Kahte Hain’ is a story of a middle-aged man, who tries to win his wife’s heart. The film is directed by Harish Vyas and stars Sanjay Mishra and Pankaj Tripathi, among others. The film will be screened at Golcha cinema hall at 5 pm.

The closing film, ‘Lies We Tell’, is a Hollywood thriller directed by Mitu Misra and stars Daniel Gulliver, Harvey Keitel, Gabriel Byrne and Sibylla Deen.

Roj said, in the five-day festival, out of 2,019 films from 101 countries received as entries, 136 films will be screened. The film festival will also have art activities, workshops and seminars on various film related subjects.

“Most of the films that are to be screened at the festival have not released yet. So people would get to watch them for the first time at JIFF,” Roj said.

Producer and director, Surendra Bohra will be given the lifetime achievemen­t award at the festival this year. Bohra, born in Jodhpur in 1946, is a renowned film producer, who turned a director with ‘Saajan Ka Ghar’ (1994).

Filmmakers from US, UK, Netherland­s, Iran, Finland, Canada, Australia, France, Italy, Hungary, Germany and Switzerlan­d will also be attending JIFF2018, Roj said. HTC
