The Gudamba police station of Lucknow has emerged as the third best police station of the country vis-à-vis its performance, infrastructure and amenities, according to a survey.

Ram Surat Sonker, inspector of the police station, will be awarded a shield by union home minister, Rajnath Singh during the inaugural session of the Director Generals Conference 2017 to be held at the Border Security Force (BSF) Academy in Tekanpur near Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh on January 6.

The Intelligence Bureau (IB) conducted a survey through the Quality Council of India to identify the 10 best police stations of the country.

The survey rated about 80 parameters pertaining to their performance, infrastructure and amenities.

IB joint secretary Manoj Yadava informed the UP police of Gudamba station’s ranking.

Deepak Kumar, SSP, Lucknow, said the police force was delighted to hear of the station’s ranking. He said the survey team, comprising 10 members, visited the police station twice — in November and December — to review its performance.

Sonker said the survey team did a review on multiple parameters including registration of FIRs, disposal of FIRs, conviction rate, redressal of public grievances, public dealing, feedback from complainants, maintenance of records manually as well as cleanliness.
