Five JeM militants killed in J&K’s Uri
Five suspected Jaish-eMohammad (JeM) militants trying to infiltrate to carry out a suicide mission were gunned down by security forces on Monday in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials said.
Director general of state police SP Vaid tweeted that the militants were killed while infiltrating in Dulanja village in north Kashmir’s border area of Uri.
Vaid added that it was a joint operation by the state police, Indian Army and the central armed police forces.
Further details about the encounter are awaited as search operations are on, an army spokesperson said.
The killings come exactly a fortnight after five soldiers and three militants were killed when militants stormed a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp in south Kashmir on New Year eve. : The Indian Army carried out a “retaliatory action” against Pakistani troops, killing seven of their soldiers and injuring four others along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Monday.
The action comes after an Indian solider was killed in Pakistani firing along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Saturday.
