GOVT TO FILE BAN REVIEW PLEA BEFORE SC

-

Home minister Gulab Chand Kataria on Saturday said the state government will file a review petition before the Supreme Court against its stay on banning screening of movie ‘Padmaavat’.

He said the government was likely to file the petition on Monday citing the law and order situation in the state if the film is released.

Kataria, who held a meeting with representatives of the Rajput community, said the BJP government wants the community to join the legal battle.

“We appeal to the Shri Rajput Karni Sena, Rajput Sabha and Udaipur royals to join the legal battle so that our plea in the court will be strengthened,” Kataria told reporters.

Asked about the Karni Sena’s threat to Censor Board chairperson Prasoon Joshi, who is invited for the Jaipur Literature Festival starting next week, Kataria said, “We are ready to provide him security if he asks for it.”

Karni Sena chief Lokendra Singh Kalvi said they have put their view before the state government. “But it is a central issue now so the centre or Supreme Court have to take a decision.”

He reiterated the Sena’s demand for a ban on the film scheduled for release on January 25. At a meeting with the Rajput community in Ajmer on Friday, chief minister Vasundhara Raje said she would not let the film release. HTC
