Speed up setting up of quality test labs in districts: Rural development dept

: Extending the deadline for setting up quality testing labs in the districts to January 31, the state rural development department warned zila parishad officials that any further delay on their party may invite disciplinary action.
In a letter to chief executive officers (CEOs) of zila parishads, secretary rural development department Rohit Kumar said the minister in an order to ensure quality work, had directed CEOs to setup quality testing labs at the zila parishad or panchayat samiti by December 31, 2017.
On reviewing the details submitted by the zila parishads, it was found that only 11 districts have setup the labs and in the rest it was under process.
Of the 33 districts, 11 which have setup the labs include Alwar, Bikaner, Bundi, Karauli, Bhilwara, Hanumangarh, Jhunjhunu, Kota, Nagaur, Pali and Sirohi.
“The state rural development minister has taken the delay in setting up of the labs, seriously and expressed his disappointment, which is unfortunate,” Kumar said.
The secretary directed the zila parishad CEOs to complete the setting up of the quality testing labs by January 31 or disciplinary action will be initiated against them.
Earlier the department extended the deadline of setting up of the labs and wrote to the CEOs and district collectors to expedite the work.
In October 2017, the rural developme department had directed district collectors to speed-up the lab work, but only four districts, including Nagaur, Kota, Hanumangarh (Tibbi) and Jhunjhunu (Alsisar) had setup the laboratory and rest were under process.
More than 15 central and state schemes are run by the department, including MNREGS, the MP and MLA local area development schemes, a number of housing schemes and the border and daang area development projects among others.
