Woman’s body found, father suspects murder

-

Police are waiting for the post mortem report to ascertain whether a 23-year-old woman, whose body was recovered from her house at Kuchavati village under Deeg police station on Thursday, was killed or she had committed suicide.

The body of Pooja Devi was recovered by the police under mysterious circumstances after her father informed them that he suspected that her in-laws strangled her to death and were trying to cremate her quietly.

Later, the body was taken to the community health centre in Deeg for a post-mortem. After which, the body was handed over to her family on Friday.

Devi’s father, Padam Singh Lodha, resident of Tehra village under Vrindavan police station in Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh, said that a Kuchavati villager informed him on phone about her daughter, after which he rushed to the village.

However, Lakhan Lodha, the uncle of Devi’s husband, told the police that she, along with her sister-in-law, had gone to the field on Thursday. His (Lodha’s) son also reached there and found her with two neighbourhood youths in the field. Adding that the youths fled from the spot after seeing his son. After reaching home, Devi hanged herself, he said.

Devi’s husband Prem Singh said they were happily married for two years and that he heard about her death from his relatives. HTC
