Chambal biodiversity festival to be held for first time in Kota
five-day-long Chambal Biodiversity festival will be organised for the first time in Kota from February 9 to 13 to showcase the biodiversity of Kota’s Chambal region.
The main attraction of the fest will be flower shows, wildlife treks, bird watching, painting, photo exhibition and other activities.
The Chambal Biodiversity festival will be jointly organised by the district administration, wildlife department and industry department of Kota.
District collector, Kota, Rohit Gupta said, Kota is known for its biodiversity along the Chambal River and Chambal Valley has immense potential of ecotourism development and promotion. So the first ever Chambal biodiversity festival will be organised here to promote ecotourism.
T Mohanraj, deputy conservator of forest, Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve, Kota, said, the five-day-long festival will witness flower shows along banks of Kishore Sagar Lake, bird watching at Abhera on Febrauary 9 and at Alnia, Girdharpura, Ummedganj and Chambal river on February 10, bird photo and bird stamp exhibition at Kota Art gallery on the inaugural day on February 9, painting and quiz competitions and seminar on February 9 and an eye camp at the Ummedganj wetland.
He added that the wildlife safari on Seljar track will be organised on February 11 and fancy dress competition and award ceremony on the same day.
“The objective of organising the festival is to create public awareness about the significance of biodiversity in Chambal and its conservation.”
Tapeshwar Singh Bhati, wildlife activist said, the festival will certainly attract youngsters, students and nature lovers from across the state.
