Chambal biodiversi­ty festival to be held for first time in Kota

five-day-long Chambal Biodiversi­ty festival will be organised for the first time in Kota from February 9 to 13 to showcase the biodiversi­ty of Kota’s Chambal region.

The main attraction of the fest will be flower shows, wildlife treks, bird watching, painting, photo exhibition and other activities.

The Chambal Biodiversi­ty festival will be jointly organised by the district administra­tion, wildlife department and industry department of Kota.

District collector, Kota, Rohit Gupta said, Kota is known for its biodiversi­ty along the Chambal River and Chambal Valley has immense potential of ecotourism developmen­t and promotion. So the first ever Chambal biodiversi­ty festival will be organised here to promote ecotourism.

T Mohanraj, deputy conservato­r of forest, Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve, Kota, said, the five-day-long festival will witness flower shows along banks of Kishore Sagar Lake, bird watching at Abhera on Febrauary 9 and at Alnia, Girdharpur­a, Ummedganj and Chambal river on February 10, bird photo and bird stamp exhibition at Kota Art gallery on the inaugural day on February 9, painting and quiz competitio­ns and seminar on February 9 and an eye camp at the Ummedganj wetland.

He added that the wildlife safari on Seljar track will be organised on February 11 and fancy dress competitio­n and award ceremony on the same day.

“The objective of organising the festival is to create public awareness about the significan­ce of biodiversi­ty in Chambal and its conservati­on.”

Tapeshwar Singh Bhati, wildlife activist said, the festival will certainly attract youngsters, students and nature lovers from across the state.
