Yugo Kobayashi and Beautin Antony scored in either half as Chennai City and Aizawl played out a draw at the JLN Stadium on Saturday. Aizawl came out of the blocks quickly and took the lead in the third minute. Andrei Ionescu got past his marker on the right before getting into the box and squaring a good cross to pick out Yugo Kobayashi who tucked a neat finish into the net.

The home side had a lucky escape when Ionescu’s curled effort from outside the box struck the crossbar and went out at the half-hour mark.

David Lalrinmuana’s freekick into the box from the left met Yugo Kobayashi’s feet but the woodwork denied Aizawl yet again.

Failure to convert chances hurt Aizawl as Chennai City snatched an equaliser in the 73rd minute. Laldinliana’s failure to intercept a through-ball from Soosairaj allowed substitute Beautin Antony to drive into the box and slot the ball home.

NEROCA POISED TO PIP KERALA

NEROCA will have the opportunity to leapfrog current table toppers Minerva Punjab to reach the summit of the when they host Gokulam Kerala on Sunday.

Two back-to-back losses at home last week somewhat derailed the Manipur-based side’s surge to the top after they went nine games unbeaten. Redemption in front of their home crowd will be on their minds as the incentive to go top also beckons for the men in orange.

BENGAL DESPERATE FOR A WIN

East Bengal will look to recreate their winning formula after being winless for four games when they host Indian Arrows on Sunday. The Khalid Jamil-led side risks falling out of top four if they don’t obtain a positive result. The second half fightback against leaders Minerva Punjab in their last match will give the home side a huge confidence boost coming into the game.
