Nepal’s last monarch in Odisha for event to protect Indian cow
Nepal’s last monarch Gyanendra Shah is in Odisha for a function dedicated to saving the Indian indigenous cow.
He will attend a function, International Gau Sambardhana Mahotsav and Gomata Mandir foundation-stone laying ceremony to be held at Rathipur near Jatni on Wednesday, the organisers have said.
The Gomata Mandir being constructed at Rathipur, 28 km south of Bhubaneswar would be completed by early 2020 while a Goshala has already started functioning in a 3.5-acre land near Rathipur.
The organisers have invited as chief guest, describing him as “king”.
He left for Odisha on Monday from Kathmandu.
During a press conference in Kathmandu, the organisation’s secretary Sibasis Satapathy and member Samir Samal said the so-called “Wow Cow Mission” is to revive the extinct Indian desi cow in every home, which will further boost the economy, agriculture and nutrition. “This is noble and sacred opportunity for all of us as the King of Nepal will be doing the Go Pujan, which will further encourage people to do the same ,” said Samal.
The former king will visit the Shree Jagannath Temple, Lingaraj Temple and Sakhigopal Temple in the coming days. Gyanendra will attend a public reception organised by Shreemarg.
He will also attend a programme commemorating the silver jubilee of Jagadguru Shankaracharya of Puri .
