BHOPAL: THE JACKETS HAVE BEEN DESIGNED BY NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF FASHION TECHNOLOGY STUDENTS, WHO

TOOK A YEAR TO FINALISE THE DESIGN

Government teachers in Madhya Pradesh will now be addressed as ‘Rashtra Nirmata’ (nation builder) and don a new dress code, according to an order issued by the state school education department on Friday.

The teachers will wear colourful designer jackets with their name followed by ‘Rashtra Nirmata’ written on their name tag. While the women teachers will wear a maroon jacket, their male counterparts will don navy blue.

The jackets for 2.5 lakh teachers have been designed by National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) students, who took a year to finalise the design.

The education department believes that the uniform will increase the self worth of teachers, allow them to bond with their jobs and enhance productivity. It will also boost the respect people have for them.

The order further reads that teachers play an important role in enhancing knowledge and instilling moral education among students and they are also responsible for showing the right path to the students.

Minister of state for school education Deepak Joshi said, “Like doctors, police and lawyers, the job of teachers is also important in society. Earlier, people in rural areas took the advice of teachers too before taking any decision but now people don’t even respect them properly. The dress code and the term ‘Rashtra Nirmata’ will give a place to teachers in the society.”

Cabinet minister Vijay Shah, who also handles the school education portfolio, announced in September 2016 that the idea behind the move was to give teachers a “feel that they are on an important duty”.

Earlier, Shah had also made it compulsory in schools to answer the roll call with ‘Jai Hind’ to instil patriotism among students.
