FAKE INSURANCE CLAIM: COUPLE ARRESTED FROM UP’S MAINPURI
The special operations group (SOG) of Rajasthan police on Wednesday arrested a couple for their involvement in a fake insurance claim racket, which was being run from their village in Uttar Pradesh’s Mainpuri district.
Jitendra Singh (37) and his wife Sudha (36) were part of the racket that fraudulently claimed insurance money on the basis of fake documents of a living man, an SOG official said.
Singh was shown to be dead and the insurance money was claimed with the help of his wife, who was the nominee in the insurance policies, he added. They were arrested from their village Ujagarpura.
The SOG last week had arrested six people, including a government doctor and an assistant sub-inspector, in the racket.
Some more cases of insurance money being taken by fake claims have also emerged, said Karan Sharma, the additional superintendent of police of SOG. More details about the cases have been sought from the respective police stations. All the eight arrested people will be in the police custody till Saturday.
Umesh Mishra, additional director general of SOG, said a case of fake insurance claim was registered at Kotwali police station in Dausa district on October 10 last year. A similar case was registered at Ramgarh Pachwara police station. Rajasthan police chief transferred the two cases to the SOG for interrogation because it seemed like the handiwork of an organised gang.
