BHARATPUR: SINGH ALLEGED THAT THE ACCUSED HAD BEEN DEMANDING ₹15 LAKH EVER SINCE HE GOT A CONTRACT FOR LAYING DRINKING WATER PIPELINE

A man thrashed a BJP corporator on the Bharatpur-Deeg state highway on Tuesday evening, and later posted a video of the attack on his Facebook timeline.

Police rushed to the spot after being informed but the man had fled by then.

The corporator was rushed to the hospital. Police have registered a case against the man who is still on the run.

BJP corporator Govind Singh alleged that Kuldeep Jaghina had been demanding ₹15 lakh from him ever since he (Singh) got the contract for laying drinking water pipeline from Bharatpur to Deeg.

“Jaghina earlier demanded 50% partnership in the contract and when I refused, he demanded ₹15 lakh. I reported this to the police on November 3 last year, but no action was taken,” he said.

Kuldeep Jaghina’s Facebook post, in Hindi, reads: ‘Govind Singh lodged a false report of extortion… when a charge is made against you, it’s better to commit that crime… left him alive because he’s married… what will happen to his wife and kids… be careful, you will not get another chance’.

In the video, Kuldeep Jaghina is heard asking if Govind will give him the money he asked and why Singh had registered a false report.

Govind Singh has written to the chief minister and home minister to seek action against the accused.

Police said Kuldeep Jaghina is named in a murder case and is absconding for a long time.

Bharatpur superintendent of police, Anil Kumar Tank said that teams led by additional superintendent of police, Dharmendra Singh, has been formed to arrest Jaghina.
