Trump adviser: Russian meddling incontrovertible

-

HR McMaster has said there was “incontrovertible” evidence of a Russian plot to disrupt the 2016 US election, but President Donald Trump went on the defensive on Sunday, poking holes in the US national security adviser’s statement.

Trump tweeted that McMaster’s statement at the Munich Security Conference on Saturday “forgot to say that the results of the 2016 election were not impacted or changed by the Russians.” He said McMaster should have noted the only collusion was between Russia, Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and the Democrats.

“I never said Russia did not meddle in the election, I said “it may be Russia, or China or another country or group, or it may be a 400 pound genius sitting in bed and playing with his computer.” The Russian “hoax” was that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia - it never did!”

He added: “If it was the GOAL of Russia to create discord, disruption and chaos within the US then, with all of the Committee Hearings, Investigations and Party hatred, they have succeeded beyond their wildest dreams. They are laughing their asses off in Moscow. Get smart America!” At Munich, McMaster had said: “As you can see with the FBI indictment, the evidence is now really incontrovertible and available in the public domain.” He noted that the US was becoming “more and more adept at tracing the origins of this espionage and subversion.” AGENCIES
