Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday through video conferencing from Delhi, unveiled the statue of former Union minister of state late Bhuvnesh Chaturvedi at Kota’s Bhuvnesh Bal Vidhyalaya.

Describing Chaturvedi as a close friend, Singh said: “Bhuvnesh Chaturvedi was the Union minister of state in former Prime Minister PV Narsimha Rao’s cabinet and held important portfolios in the government.”

Singh, who was supposed come to Kota for the unveiling but could not come due to some reason so he and his wife, Gurusharan Kaur, unveiled the statute through video conferenceing from Delhi.

Bhuvnesh Chaturvedi was a man of wisdom and was known for his down to earth demeanor, Singh said.

“Bhuvnesh Chaturvedi was known for maintaining cordial relations with leaders across the political spectrum and had friends in Opposition, including former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat and Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje,” he said.

“Besides being a distinguished politician, Bhuvnesh Chaturvedi was very close to PV Narsimha Rao and also a very close friend of mine.”

Gurusharan Kaur, too, regretted for not being able to be present in person at the unveiling ceremony.

Former Kota parliamentarian Ijyaraj Singh and president of the Bhuvnesh Chaturvedi Trust Dr Prashant Sharma were among the others who were present at the unveiling ceremony.
