Another Pashtun man found dead in Pak
A Pakistani youth who actively participated in a demonstration protesting the extrajudicial killing of a Pashtun man has been found dead in Dera Ismail Khan in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Province.
The bullet-riddled body of Aftab Mehsud — a close friend of Naqeebullah Mehsud whose death had sparked protests— was found in an under-construction house. The post mortem revealed he was shot thrice in the chest and once on his arm, The Express Tribune newspaper reported.
Dawn, quoting sources, said that a piece of paper was found with the body on which names of the victim and his father and his telephone number were written.
A police official said that it was likely that the incident was a result of “honour killing” as the corpse also bore torture marks, ANI reported.
A student of Gomal University in Dera Ismail Khan, Aftab hailed from Makeen area of South Waziristan Agency. He moved to Karachi where he became friends with Naqeebullah Mehsud.
Mehsud, a social media star, was killed in what was later found to be a fake encounter, prompting hundreds of Pashtuns to assemble in Islamabad to demand the arrest of Rao Anwar, the policeman behind the killing. The protestors said they were being targeted by law agencies because of their ethnicity. AGENCIES
