Most of the Class 12 students of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) from Jaipur who took the English exam Monday said the paper was lengthy. The board exams that began Monday will stretch till April 13.

“The paper was not tough as such but it was certainly lengthy. The A-section (comprehension) of the paper had big passages,” said Surbhi Pansari, a student from Maharani Gayatri Devi School.

Srinidhi Srinivasan, a student of Seedling Modern High School said that the paper was easy. “Although some said the paper was lengthy, I was able to finish it on time,” she said.

Raghav Joshi, a student of Kendriya Vidyalaya No 4, Jaipur, found the Section C (literature) of the paper a little tough. “The other two sections were fine, literature was a bit tough. But the paper was lengthy,” he said.

Another student, Harsh Das, said that the paper was easy but lengthy. “The boards are not as difficult as they are projected to be. The paper was lengthy but it was easy,” said Das, a student of Jayshree Periwal High School. Priyansha Sharma of the same school too found the paper easy but reiterated Das’ objections to the length of the paper.

The board exams for Class 10 will begin on Tuesday and go on till April 2. It is after a gap of seven years that all the students of Class 10 will be writing the board exams. Until last year, the Class 10 students had the option of writing the board exams.

Since 2010-11, they were being assessed by a Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) system. But this year, the boards have been made mandatory again. The board exams will carry 80% weightage while the internal assessment will have 20% weightage.
