Raje govt lifts transfer and posting ban
In an effort to appease employee and party workers in the election year, the state government has lifted ban from transfer and posting. The government’s move is seen as the result of its defeat in the rout in Assembly, parliamentary and local bodies by-elections.
The transfer ban was lifted on Monday night for an indefinite period from all departments, corporations, board and local bodies. There was a ban on transfers since September 2016. Over nine lakh employees would be benefitted with the move.
Transfer of schoolteachers in 10 ‘restricted’ districts was banned for 20 years. Transfer ban lifting affects the education department the most. The department has 2 lakh staff and during previous transfer seasons, hordes of schoolteachers descended on education minister’s house in Jaipur with their requests.
Soon after hearing the news, number of people started approaching local leaders for their recommendation for desired place of posting. At BJP office today during public hearing people turned-up for transfer and posting issues.
A senior BJP leader said ministers, MLA and party office bearers were demanding lifting ban. “This is an election year, public representatives wants to favour employees by posting, especially in their home town. Last year, ban was lifted but not from health and education department,” he said.
State BJP President Ashok Parnami said, “Transfer and posting were being done in last four years. The government is committed to give relief and resolve employee unrest.”
Urban Development and Housing Minister Shrichand Kriplani after the public hearing at BJP office said, “Transfer posting is a general process which is done every year. People are coming for transfer as it was banned for long time. Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje wants to provide relief to those who were living away from home for long.” He added that the there is a policy for transfer and accordingly it will be done.
Though the party leaders’ are claiming transfer based on a policy, the education department in an attempt to reach out to disgruntled workers in February had reportedly asked MLAs to send transfer recommendation in a format.
