Minor detained, 7 held in theft & firing cases

Police on Tuesday and Wednesday arrested seven people and detained a minor for their alleged involvemen­t in separate crimes ranging from theft and chain-snatching to burglary and firing cases, officials said.

In one case, police on Tuesday arrested Vijay Pratap, Wakeel and Manish, all natives of Dholpur and aged 21 years.

“The trio used to come from Dholpur to Jaipur for a day, steal bikes and carry out chain snatching incidents in Jaipur East area,” said Kunwar Rastradeep, deputy commission­er of police, Jaipur East, in a press conference here on Wednesday.

He added that the men have confessed to committing 17 incidents of chain snatching.

“They would leave the bikes at random places and go back to Dholpur after committing snatching 2-3 chains in a day,” he said, adding that the arrested people have spent time in prison earlier in cases of gang rape.

In another incident, police arrested two people, including a minor, for their alleged involved in the firing incident of Sanganer in February 2018 that was captured by a CCTV camera.

The two, along with another person, had fired in air outside a house in Sanganer in an inebriated state. According to a police, the matter pertains to rivalry between two groups of transgende­rs.

Deepak (21), along with the minor, was intercepte­d by the police at Tonk road on Wednesday.

A pistol with a live cartridge was recovered from Deepak while a countrymad­e handgun with a live cartridge was recovered with the minor, said a statement issued by the office of deputy commission­er of police.
