Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Saturday accused the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of working as an extra-constitutional authority and interfering in governance.

The RSS is the ideological parent of the ruling BJP.

The RSS was working behind curtains and there were RSS nominee in every ministries and departments in central government and state governments, the Congress leader said at a press conference in Kota.

The RSS was also working like spy in governments, he said. “The RSS claims itself to be a cultural organisation but it decides who will become prime minister and president (of the country).”

Gehlot said the BJP and RSS should merge and the RSS should declare that they were not a cultural organisation but a political party. Gehlot also alleged that Bajri (river sand) mafias were prospering and minting money at the behest of the state government. He demanded for a probe into the issue.

“Bajri issue will drown the BJP government...,” he said.

KOTA:

On minister Kalicharan Sarraf’s son’s alleged involvement in a corruption case, Gehlot attacked chief minister Vasundhara Raje for allowing her ministers to indulge in corruption.

“Why did not Raje prevent her ministers from doing corruption and drop them from the cabinet,” he said, adding Raje tried to protect bureaucrat Ashok Singhvi in the mines scam that deserves a probe by the CBI.

Ramesh Agarwal, RSS Jaipur prant sanghchalak, said the RSS was a cultural organisation and its swayamsevaks were performing their duty as citizens. “They are not involved in any illegal activities.”
