After safety nod, NWR to run trains on 453-km electrified lines
The North Western Railway (NWR) has completed electrification work on 453km route in the current financial year and the commissioner of railway safety (CRS) has given approval to ply trains on them, announced Tarun Jain, the chief public relations officer of NWR, recently.
The tracks on which the electrification work has been completed include Rewari-Kosali (27kms), Bhiwani-Rohtak (46kms), Rewari-Reengus-Phulera (214kms) and Ajmer-Date (166kms).
“At present, the electrification work is in progress on 2080 km and once these works are completed, electric lines will be connected and plying of electric trains will start,” Jain added.
The electrification of railway lines will benefit passengers in many ways, as it will increase average speed of the trains, prevent pollution caused by diesel engines, increase load capacity and save time to run more trains.
The electrified routes that has been completed include Rewari-Manheru (69.02km), Manheru-Hissar (76.50km), Palanpur-Ajmer-Phulera-Reengus-Rewari and Phulera-Jaipur-Bandikui-Alwar (867.76km), Ajmer-BairchaMavli-Udaipur (292km), which are to be approved by the CRS.
Apart from these, electrification work that are in progress include Reengus-Jaipur-Sawai Madhopur (188.59km), HissarBhatinda-Suratgarh-Suratgarh Thermal (328km), RewariSadulpur-Hanumangarh (320km), Sadulpur-RatangarhBikaner-Lalgarh RatangarhSardarshahar (285km) and second line between Alwar and Bandikui (60.37km).
Electrification work of ₹3,130 crore was announced in 2018-19 union budget for 3157kms rail section in NWR. It includes Mavli Junction-Badi Sadri (82 route km), Bangurgram-Ras (27.8 rkm), Marwar JunctionMavli Junction (152rkm), Madar Junction-Pushkar (25.7rkm), Udaipur-Himmatnagar (209.66rkm), Hissar-Suratpura (64.60rkm), Hanumangarh-Sriganganagar-SarupsarSuratgarh (including SarupsarAnupgarh section) (281rkm), Loharu-Sikar (122rkm), DausaGangapur City (93rkm), Reengus-Sikar-Churu (140.57rkm), Bikaner-Merta Road-Jodhpur and Phulera-Merta Road (424rkm), Marwar JunctionLuni (71.71 rkm), Phalodi-Jodhpur-Samdadi-Bhildi including Phalodi-Jaisalmer (602.72rkm), Ratangarh-Degana (142.89rkm), Samdadi-Barmer-Munabao (250.29rkm) and Thaiyat Hamira-Sanu including Peepar RoadBilara, Makrana-Parbatsar City and Merta Road-Merta City (135.72rkm).
