Supreme Court set to get crèche from May 1
The Supreme Court will have a crèche from May 1, in its new annexe building premises for working lawyer parents, staff of apex court and advocates, as the top court approved new guidelines to regulate the facility.
A Bench of justices Ranjan Gogoi and R Banumathi approved the draft application registration form, draft circular and revised norms/guidelines. It directed the registry to explore the possibility of outsourcing the facility through the ministry of woman and child development.
The Bench has posted the matter for further hearing on July 10.
The notification said the crèche will be for children — in the age group of 6 months to 6 years — of members of the Supreme Court Bar Association, Supreme Court Advocates-onRecord Association, female registered clerks engaged by AORs/ senior advocates, clerks of advocates, SCBA staff and officers and employees of the registry.
It said the crèche shall admit up to a maximum of 30 children instead of 10 at present, and out of 30 seats, three shall be kept vacant for those desirous of availing the facility for a day or two and also for children as may be recommended by the Supreme Court Mediation Centre while 27 seats will be filled by admitting children on a regular basis.
The admission fee will be ~1,000, care fee payable in advance ~1,500/month and charges per child ~100/day. The facility will be from 8.30am to 6.30pm from Monday to Friday and 8.30am to 2pm on Saturdays.
