People in the know said the wedding took place on Saturday night at the Pahalgam Club in the tourist resort. On Sunday, the newly-married couple and their relatives and friends drove to Khan’s native village in Mattan.

Dabi, 24, the first Dalit woman to top the UPSC examinations, and Khan, 25, a Muslim from restive south Kashmir, were both allocated the Rajasthan cadre.

The couple, after reportedly falling in love during their training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy for Administration in Mussoorie, had announced their wedding plans in November last year.

Dabi had told the press that she fell in love with Khan “at first sight”.

Both Dabi’s parents are in the Indian Engineering Services while Khan is the son of a school teacher from Anantnag district in Kashmir.

While Dabi is a graduate in political science from New Delhi-based Lady Shri Ram College, Khan is a BTech from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh.
