Rathore’s show of strength on birthday
In a show of strength, state panchyati raj and rural development minister Rajendra Rathore, who turned 63 on Saturday, organised a grand birthday celebration at Churu, his home constituency.
Hundreds of supporters gathered at the event that was billed as “Sankalp Diwas.”
Addressing the gathering, Rathore said, “We should take a vow to make Churu Congressmukt.”
“We will once again form the government under the leadership of Vasundhara Raje,” he said.
Referring to the assembly elections, Rathore said the BJP will return to power in the state. He said the Congress win in the by-polls, was a fluke.
Supporters came with huge garlands and bouquets and made a beeline to offer him sweets and some ardent supporters enthusiastically danced to drum beats.
A number of state and union ministers and legislators were present. State agriculture minister Prabhulal Saini, state minister Rajkumar Rinwa and Union minister Arjun Ram Meghwal lauded Rathore for his work as an elected representative.

These events are increasingly growing in number and hold significance as assembly polls are scheduled to take place later this year.
Some leaders donate blood and others hold huge public gatherings while some organise feasts where thousands are invited. The purpose is to send out a message that they are strong and thriving.
