‘Woman found near hospital was raped’

: The Sindhary police in Barmer on Wednesday registered a case of rape and murder in connection with a woman, who was found unconsciou­s outside a local government hospital’s gate, and who later died on the way a hospital in Jodhpur on Monday, police said.

On the basis of deceased son’s complaint, police have lodged a case of rape and murder against Vishnaram Bheel, a resident of the town, said Jetha Ram, station house officer at the Sindhary police station.

The case has been registered under Sections of 302 and 376 of Indian Penal Code, he said.

The complaint alleged that the accused first raped his mother and then killed her, police said.

On Monday, police were informed about a woman, who was found in an unconsciou­s state at the gate of the government hospital, police said, adding that on getting the informatio­n, they rushed to the spot and admitted the woman in the hospital and later traced her relatives and informed them about the incident.

During the investigat­ion, it was found that the deceased was a widow, whose husband was a teacher and died more than five years back, Ram said.

He further said that after the death of her husband, the deceased got a government job on compassion­ate grounds and was working with the Sindhary sub divisional magistrate’s office.

The deceased had known the accused for a long time, police said.

On Monday, the deceased was last seen riding a motorbike with the accused, during which they met with an accident, police said.

After leaving the woman outside the hospital gate, the accused fled from the spot, police said, adding that they are investigat­ing why the accused had fled from the spot.

No arrest has been made till filing of this report.
