Dabur Q4 net profit rises 19% to ₹396 crore on volume growth

Dabur India Ltd, on Tuesday, reported a 19% rise in consolidat­ed net profit for the quarter ended March 31, 2018, backed by 7.7% volume growth in domestic packaged goods business.

The New Delhi-based packaged goods maker reported consolidat­ed net profit at ₹396.20 crore for the January-March quarter as compared with ₹333.11 crore in the correspond­ing yearago quarter.

Consolidat­ed revenue for the quarter rose to ₹2,032.91 crore, up 6.2% from ₹1,914.68 crore during the year-ago quarter. However, the comparable growth was around 11.1%. “Revenue for the quarters ended March 31, 2018 and December 31, 2017 is net of Goods and Service Tax (GST) which is applicable from July 1, 2017, however, revenue for the periods up to 30 June 2017 is net of VAT but gross of excise duty.

Accordingl­y, revenue for the quarter(s) ended March 31, 2018, December 31, 2017 and for the year ended March 31, 2018 is not comparable with the previous periods presented in these consolidat­ed financial results. Similarly, cost of goods sold and expenses are also not comparable,” Dabur India said.

Dabur’s comparable standalone India revenue for the quarter grew by 10% to ₹1509.62 crore, while standalone net profit grew 17% to ₹353.58 crore backed by a 7.7% rise in packaged goods volume in domestic market during the quarter under review.
