‘Finish pending PMAY homes by July’

FULFILLING TARGETS State govt has asked district collectors to prepare gram panchayatwise action plan

The Rajasthan panchayati raj and rural development department has asked district collectors to ensure completion of pending houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY) by July.

Rajasthan was given a target of 4,73,887 houses for 2016-17 and 2017-18, against which 3,05,915 have been completed. The target was scheduled to be achieved by March 2018. In a letter to the district collectors, the department’s principal secretary, Rajeshwar Singh, has asked them to ensure completion by July this year.

One of the flag ship schemes of the NDA government launched in April 2016 modifying the Indira Awaas Yojana, PMAY intends to provide houses to all by 2022.

Singh said inspections for second installment to 28,586 beneficiaries and third to 1,37,617 were pending. Singh asked the collectors to hold inspections during the Nyay Aapke Dwar campaign and prepare an action plan to allot targets gram panchayat wise.

The Centre had directed the state to register all eligible beneficiaries. The state has been given a target of 6.17 lakh houses for 2018-19, and additional 70,000 were allotted later.

At a recent meeting with the joint secretary, union rural development department, the state minister has asked for a target of 1.30 lakh houses on the basis of a proposal for allocating additional two lakh houses. All the districts have been directed to complete registration by this month for targets received, and the additional to be given under 1.30 lakh.

“The state minister has expressed his dissatisfaction over Churu, Alwar, Jaisalmer, Rajsamand, Bikaner and Karuli for districts, where cent percent registration has not been done on the previous targets,” Singh said.

All districts were directed to maintain one bank account for PMAY. Directions were given on March 31, 2015 to close all accounts under Indira Awaas Yojana and transfer all funds to the system of national accounts.

“The rural development ministry, GoI, has informed that still 14 districts are maintaining two accounts, which is a serious irregularity. It has been directed to maintain only one account for PMAY,” he said.

Singh has asked collectors to ensure publicity of Gram Samwad application, which creates awareness among people over central schemes. The collectors were asked to provide residential plots to landless eligible families during the Nyay Aapke Dwar campaign this year.
