After delay, flights from Kishangarh by this week
Starting this week, flights from Ajmer’s Kishangarh airport will be operating under the regional air connectivity scheme, UDAN, a top official said.
Under the new aviation policy, the regional connectivity scheme, UDAN, has been launched, where Rajasthan was the first state to sign a memorandum of understanding, said state director of civil aviation Kesari Singh. UDAN or “ude desh ka aam naagrik”, aims to connect un-served and underserved airports across the country. Rajasthan has 18 state-owned airfields apart from the airports owned by the Airports Authority of India, defence airfields and private airstrips, Singh said.
Across the country a number tourist regions have been identified for air connectivity and in Rajasthan — Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Uttarlai (Barmer) and Kishangarh--were identified, he said.
“Flights between Delhi- JaipurBikaner has started with Alliance airlines and SpiceJet has started operating between Jaisalmer and Jaipur. Flights from Kishangarh will be operational by next week and by the year end from Barmer by Zoom Airlines.”
Singh added that the state government is providing land, security, inter-land connectivity, ambulance and fire services at the airports. “The air services are and will be provided at affordable fares between ₹ 1,500 and ₹2,500.”
Sources in the state civil aviation department said everything is set and time has been sought from the chief minister for inaugurating the flight, which probably will be sometime this week.
Meanwhile, the Kota-Delhi flight, launched on April 11, was discontinued a couple days later on April 14, and the flights still remain suspended.
Kota airport officials said the low-cost airline that was operating the flights, had not obtained the mandatory clearances from the Airports Authority of India.
The Vasundhara Raje government has ambitious plans to start air services connecting all major heritage properties, forts and palaces through air connectivity in all the districts of the states.
