17YEAROLD STUDENT KILLS SELF IN KOTA, 9TH THIS YEAR

: A coaching student from Uttar Pradesh committed suicide by hanging himself in Mahaveer Nagar area of the Kota City.

Assistant sub-inspector of police, Ramswaroop said that Surya Pratap Singh (17), who is from Bajipur in Baliya district of Uttar Pradesh, was living in a rented acccomodation in Rangbari area of Kota City. He was taking coaching from a coaching institute in Kota for IIT-JEE.

Suryakant used to go out with friends but when he did not come out of his room till late on Sunday night, fellow students at the rented accomodation peeped through the window and saw that he was hanging from the ceiling fan in the room.

No suicide note has been recovered from his room. The postmortem will be conducted after his parents arrive in Kota.

This is the ninth student suicide in Kota this year.

In March, a 19-year-old youth, preparing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) at a coaching institute in Kota, committed suicide. The body of Nikhil Dhillon, a resident of Rewari in Haryana, was found floating in the Chambal river.

Kota, considered the coaching capital of India, has witnessed more than 60 suicides in the past five years. Six students had committed suicide in 2017, while 16 had ended their lives in 2016.
