The state government has recently constituted a high-level committee, under the chairmanship of law minister Pushpendrasingh Ranawat, who will consider the possibilities of setting up a new circuit bench of the High Court in Udaipur.
Lawyers Association’s president Kuldeep Mathur said, “We have been demanding an integrated high court for several years, but now efforts are being made for the division of the high court.” He said that members of both the associations of Jodhpur opposed it on Monday.
A delegation of both the associations also met Union minister of state for law PP Chaudhary on Monday morning and gave him the memorandum. Chaudhary said that he will discuss the matter with chief minister Vasundhara Raje. He assured that before considering such a proposal, the opinion of all lawyers will be taken.
In Jaipur, RHCBA office-bearers have decided to boycott work on Tuesday, too. “It has been decided in the meeting held on Monday to suspend work on Tuesday as well,” said Anil Kumar Upman, president of the association.
