The anti-corruption bureau (ACB) has arrested a woman revenue officer in Udaipur for taking bribe in lieu of changing land records, police said Friday.

Additional superintendent of police, ACB, Surendra Singh Bhati said Dipika Khatik, 23, is posted as a patwari in Bedla under Badgaon tehsil of the district. She was caught taking Rs 22,000 as bribe from Pintu Kalal of Amberi village on Thursday evening.

Bhati said initial investigation revealed that the woman officer took bribe to fund expenses for her wedding on June 19.

Khatik was married during childhood and was widowed in 2015. She was given her husband’s job because he died during harness. “This was her first field posting,” the ACB officer said.

Hailing from Kapasan in Chittorgarh, Kjatik was getting remarried on June 19.

She was produced in court on Friday and remanded in judicial custody for 14 days.

The ACB officer said that Kalal approached the patwari for mutation of a piece of land in revenue records. The land belonged to Vijay Badala, owner of Navkaar Builders, where Kalal works. When Khatik demanded money for the work, Kalal informed his superior, and they decided to lodge a complaint against the revenue officer with the ACB.

The ACB also caught an assistant sub-inspector of Kushalgarh police station of Banswara on Thursday while he was taking Rs 15,000 as bribe from a man for excluding his name from the list of accused in a criminal case.

SI Porshuttam Bonkar was caught by the ACB team led by deputy SP Herambh Joshi and was booked under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
