: With assembly elections due by the year-end, the BJP is set to launch a mega yatra in Rajasthan to garner public support and retain power in the state, party leaders said.

“The objective behind launching the yatra is to publicise the state government’s schemes and achievements, and create awareness among the masses,” a senior BJP leader said on condition of anonymity. “The yatra will be launched in mid-June.”

In April 2013, Vasundhara Raje had launched Suraaj Sankalp Yatra covering all seven divisions to oust the Congress government in the state. A month before that, the Congress had launched Sandesh Yatra to publicise its government’s schemes and achievements.

The name of the present yatra has not been finalised; it could be called Vijay Sankalp or Gaurav yatra, party sources said.

“The yatra this time will be different from Suraaj Sankalp Yatra. A group of three ministers will be assigned a division; they will cover an assembly constituency every day,” a party leader said. “The ministerial group will cover the division in 25-30 days. During their visits in specially designed vehicles, they will hold public meetings and have interactions with the public and party workers. Street plays will be organised for publicising achievements.”

The flagship schemes, such as Bhamashah health insurance scheme, Jal Swalambhan Yojna, and Nyay Aapke Dwar, still need to be publicised. During the yatra, people will be apprised of development work done by the government in their constituencies, the leader said.

“The chief minister will not participate in the yatra; she will continue with her ongoing scheduled visits to districts.”

The ministerial group, the leader said, will have dinner at workers’ houses daily, which will be joined by local leaders and workers. “The move aims to address their (workers’) grievances, resolve infights and strengthen the party at the ground level,” he said.

Meanwhile, CM Vasundhara Raje reached Banswara on Monday to interact with people of the district for four days.

She visited Joganiya Mata temple at Sarona village, and interacted with people of the Kushalgarh assembly constituency. On Tuesday, she will go to Maangarh Dham and interact with people of Baagidora assmebly. On Wednesday, she will visit Athurna temple and hold interactions in Gaddi assembly. The CM will go to Tripura Sunderi temple the next day, inaugurate a stadium and hold interactions with people of Banswara constituency.
