Man arrested for stealing women doctors’ purses in private hospitals

-

Jaipur police on Saturday arrested a 30-year-old man for stealing women doctors’ purses from private hospitals.

“Originally from Delhi, Ravi Saini shifted to Jaipur seven years ago. He initially worked as a daily wage labourer and then did odd jobs for some time,” investigating officer of the case, head constable Mahendra Singh said. Singh said Saini stays in Jaipur with his parents, brother, wife and daughter.

Saini targeted big private hospitals of the city in search for his victims, police said.

“He would roam around a woman doctor’s chamber for even 2-3 days, to give the impression that he is a staff member. Since these hospitals have a large number of personnel who do not know each other, he would not attract suspicion,” Singh said.

The moment a doctor would step out of her chamber, Saini would steal the purse and leave from the hospital, police said. “Saini has confessed to the crime. He said he did first such incident around May 20,” Singh said.

Police said Saini has confessed to seven such acts. He collected Rs 22,000 in cash and one mobile. “He said he targeted these doctors as most of them wouldn’t even report the loss of a few thousand rupees to the police,” Singh said.

The police caught him through CCTV footage after a doctor filed a report on Friday in Vishwakarma police station. “There is a possibility that he might have committed more such incidents. We are looking into it,” Singh said. HTC
