Haryana gets privilege in selections: Former international players
international and national kabaddi players of Rajasthan, with some of state kabaddi federation presidents, alleged that Rajasthan and national kabaddi federation office-bearers ignore the state players in selection.
Former international players Heeranand Kataria and Giriraj Sharma said that Asian Kabaddi Federation president Janardan Singh Gehlot and Rajasthan Kabaddi Association secretary Govind Narayan Sharma have given privilege to the Haryana players instead of Rajasthan.
Jaipur Pink Panthers bid the highest amount of Rs 1.15 crore for Haryana’s Deepak Hudda playing for Rajasthan, but they alleged he is not from Jaipur.
They submitted the proof that although he shows his residential address as Purani Basti Jaipur but he never lived there. The same story goes for Jasbir Singh and Nitin Madni.
They alleged that Govind Sharma being the secretary of State Kabaddi Association, his younger brother Rajnarayan Sharma being the coach, his son Navneet Gautam is a part of the Indian team although he is way below the expected mark. “I am above 60 and even today, I play better than Navneet,” Giriraj said.
Heeranand said that Sumitra Sharma (38), who represented the country in Asian and Saf Games, was not selected in the National Games team last year because she did not have anyone from top authority behind her back.
She played her last international match in Asian Games and Saf games in 2014 and 2016 respectively.
Andra Pradesh Kabaddi Association president KP Rao said that they are requesting to the chief minister of Rajsathan to remove JS Gehlot from his post. Gehlot has been a part of the association for the last 40 years and now his wife and son are also a part of it.
Rao said that he has demanded a CBI enquiry over the fake certificate and scam in the association.
Giriraj and Kataria said that fake certificate were issued by the KFI to the seven players including Deepak Davas, Kapil Dev, Amarjot, Raj Virendra, Parvinder, Manoj Kumar and Sanjeev Shama. Deepak was arrested for his engagement in the fake certificate case. A complaint was also registered in Mukherjee Thana in New Delhi against Gehlot.
Janardan Singh Gehlot said, “The police enquiry was started after my report. I met the joint commissioner of police, Delhi to seek clarification on the fake certificate. Deepak Hudda and some other players have been playing for Rajasthan for a long time.”
