A local court in Jaipur rejected the closure report in a case of cheating and forgery against a gynaecologist filed by police and took cognizance of the charges pressed against her by a man who has accused the doctor of criminal negligence during delivery of his wife and use of fake medical degree.

The court has summoned the doctor on July 4.

Mohammad Illiyas told Jaipur’s additional chief judicial magistrate (Metropolitan) No. 17 that Dr Kanwardeep Randhawa runs a hospital in Adarsh Nagar using a fake MS degree in her prescription pads when she only has a two-year diploma in gynaecology and obstetrics.

Illiyas lodged a complaint against the doctor for negligence during her wife, Reshma’s delivery in 2011.

He said that he lost his baby due to injury to its head during childbirth and the doctor removed his wife’s uterus when she failed to check excessive bleeding.

The court asked Moti Dungri police station to investigate the charge.

Although police filed a closure report in court, Illiyas submitted his objection to it through his lawyer Abdul Khalik.

“The court accepted our plea and rejected police closure report, prima facie finding the doctor guilty of cheating and forgery,” Khalik said.

Dr Randhawa is booked under sections 420 (cheating), 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document or electronic record) of the Indian Penal Code.

The court took cognizance of the case of cheating and causing economic loss to the applicant with fake medical degree and documents and causing lethal injury to the family.

The hearing of this case is on July 4, 2018.

When contacted, Dr Randhawa refused to comment on the matter.
