Mexico’s ‘Grand Warlock’ casts spell

With the help of two priestesse­s and a rain stickshape­d like an ancient Mesoameric­an god, Mexico’s “Grand Warlock” cast a spell on Wednesday to help the nation at least reach the quarterfin­als in Russia.

Antonio Vazquez — better known as “El Brujo Mayor,” a soothsayer famed for his annual prediction­s on politics and the news — invoked the plumed serpent god Quetzalcoa­tl, worshipped by the Aztecs and other pre-Columbian peoples .

“Give me all your force and power to break through heaven’s doors, let Mexico reach the fifth match. Quetzalcoa­tl, let it be so,” he said

William Evanina, Director of the Na tional Counterint­elligence and Security Center, said that in Russia, even people who believe they are too unimportan­t to be hacked can be targeted.

“Anyone traveling to Russia to attend the World Cup should be clear-eyed about the cyber risks involved,” Evanina said. “If you’re planning on taking a mobile phone, laptop, PDA, or other electronic device with you, any data on those devices may be accessed by the Russian government or cyber criminals.”
