Energy seminar stresses on efficiency
Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in association with Rajasthan energy department organised a seminar on ‘profitability through energy conservation and efficiency’ in Jaipur on Friday.
Speakers said that energy is the key to manufacturing as well as service industry and with energy demand in India expected to grow on the back of a growing economy, it was imperative to take measures to improve efficiency and reduce wastage.
Addressing the session, Secure Meters Ltd managing director Suket Singhal urged the industrialists to get the energy audit done, invest in maintenance and take smart decisions in terms of using different sources of energy. Deputy director general CII, S Raghupathy, stressed on the use of technology to improve energy efficiency. Deputy chairman CII north region Sameer Gupta laid stress on investing in green buildings and gave tips to MSMEs to conserve energy. JVVNL managing director R G Gupta talked about the measures taken to reduce losses in the power distribution.
State energy department principal secretary Sanjay Malhotra said that union government and state government had done a lot to improve energy efficiency. “In the transmission sector, we have reduced transmission loss consistently since 2013-14 which translated into savings of 52 crore units per year. This translates into ~228 crore of savings.
