The State Pre-conception and Pre-natal Diagnostic Technique (PCPNDT) Cell of Rajasthan has decided to involve community leaders in its campaign to save daughters.

The PCPNDT cell is organising a programme for the community leaders at Birla Auditorium on June 30, said Archana Sharma, the consultant for the PCPNDT cell on Monday.

Sharma said community leaders of various communities such as Brahaman Samaj, Sikh Samaj, Mali Samaj and Khandelwal Samaj are being involved to work as soldiers in the fight against sex determination.

They will be given a presentation by Naveen Jain, the mission director of National Health Mission, about various efforts being made to save daughters, she said. She added that the community leaders would further propagate the message within their community resulting in families themselves becoming soldiers in saving daughters.

She said the event will be followed by a musical programme by Bollywood music directorcomposer duo Jatin Pandit and his brother Lalit. Swanand Kirkire, who had created waves by singing ‘O ri Chiraya’ in an episode of Satyamev Jayate in 2012, will also be present. He had dedicated the song to those girls who did not come to this world as they were aborted after sex determination. The director of Satyamev Jayate, Satyajit Bhatkal, will also be present.

“Bhatkal will see the change brought in Rajasthan in regard to daughters, and hopefully, he might highlight this in his next season of Satyamev Jayate,” said Sharma.

Sharma said that women who acted as decoy in the operations carried out by the cell will share their experience at the programme. Along with, girls and women who have achieved great feats in their life will also be awarded.

“The event will prove how team work can do wonders in saving girl child,” she said.

State PCPNDT Cell in-charge Raghuveer Singh said in last four years, many decoy operations were conducted in and outside the state and results have been good as the child sex ratio (CSR) is improving in the state.

He said Rajasthan was in news in 2011 census due to drastic fall in the CSR from 909 in 2001 to 888 per 1000 boys in 2011, but now till 2017-18, CSR has improved to 922 per 1000 boys. He said since 2009 till now, 119 decoy operations were conducted including 36 interstate operations.
