1 KILLED, SEVEN INJURED AS DUST STORM HITS STATE
A 14-year-old boy was killed when a wall collapsed on him in Alwar on Monday during a dust storm in the afternoon.
In neighbouring Bharatpur district, seven people were injured in the dust storm in two separate incidents.
A dust storm hit the two districts around noon on Monday. In Alwar, electric poles and transformers were uprooted in the wind, snapping electric supply in many areas.
A wall of Kalu Ram Meena’s house in Reni village on Rajgarh in Alwar collapsed during the storm, killing his
14-year-old son, Asha Ram, said Reni police station SHO Mahesh Sharma.
In Bharatpur, seven people, including three children, got injured in the dust storm as roofs and walls of houses collapsed, police said.
In Dhandholi village of Bharatpur, three children, between eight and 10 years of age, and a 50-year-old man took shelter under a brick hut during the dust storm where the wall collapsed on them.
Villager rushed to their rescue and took them to hospital, police said.
In the second incident, three workers at an automobile workshop got injured when a tin roof under which they were sitting fell on them.
They are undergoing treatment in a hospital.
In Alwar, power distribution company superintending engineer BS Meena said that 60 electric poles and four transformers were damaged in the dust storm.
