Now, teachers can be transferred from tribal areas to other parts
The Rajasthan education department has lifted the ban on transfer of teachers posted in the Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) areas paving way for deploying them in other parts of the state.
Education minister Vasaudev Devnani has approved a proposal in this regard. A senior official of the department said around 5,000 teachers are posted in the TSP areas, of which 1,500 wish to get transferred to non-TSP locations.
The government had in March this year lifted the ban on transfers imposed since September 2016. The ban, however, remained imposed in TSP areas. The official said that a month ago the department lifted the ban on transfers in districts falling in dark zones, which also include TSP areas.
There are 10 districts, which are in dark zones – Barmer, Jaisalmer, Jalore, Bikaner, Jhalawar, Baran, Sirohi, Dungarpur, Banswara and Pratapgarh. Of these Banswara, Dungarpur, Pratapgarh, Sirohi and some parts of Udaipur fall in TSP area.
“It is a welcome move by the government. The teachers who have remained posted there for a lomng time can now get an opportunity to shift to their home district,” said Mahaveer Singh, president, Rajasthan Shikshak Sangh (Shekhawat). This will also create job opportunity for those who have BEd degree, he added.
President, Rajasthan Shikshak Sangh (Rashtriya), Prahlad Sharma said, “It was a long pending demand of our association. We welcome the move. I believe around 500-1000 teachers will benefit from this.”
Recognising the contribution of army men, the department is giving priority to wives of servicemen in transfer. Sources in the department said, Devnani, in an informal directive, has asked officials to give priority to wives of serving army men while creating the transfer list.
