Union minister of state for agriculture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and chief minister Vasundhara Raje met in public on Thursday, almost two months after Shekhawat emerged as front runner for the post of state BJP president, much to the opposition of Raje.

Shekhawat reached Jodhpur airport to receive Raje, who came to the sun city on a twoday visit on Thursday afternoon.

He reached the airport just a few minutes before the CM’s special plane landed and went directly to the VIP room to welcome her, but was soon lost in the crowd when Raje came out of the airport.

However, in the evening, the two sat next to each other on the dais when Raje launched some development projects. They even spoke a couple of times but Raje largely seemed to ignore him.

The Raje-led faction has been opposing Shekhawat’s name for the appointment of state BJP president that has delayed the announcement of the new party chief in Rajasthan even two months after Ashok Parnami resigned from the post in April.

Addressing a public meeting at the inauguration of an overbridge, Raje said that her predecessor Ashok Gehlot is good only at making accusations.

Raje said that during the tenure of the previous government,

JODHPUR:

the development work of only Rs 4000 crore was done in Jodhpur while the present government has so far spent Rs 13,500 crore on development works. She said that the previous government had left Jodhpur Development Authority in debt of Rs 1,200 crores and no one knows where this money was spent. Raje said the allegation is baseless that the present government is spending more money for development of a particular region and is ignoring some areas.

Raje said that Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh took 15 years to develop, where Rajasthan is showing signs of progress only in four and a half years.

Later, she laid the foundation stones of six development works and inaugurated 12 others.
