AHEAD OF ASSEMBLY ELECTION These units are focussing on creating awareness and connecting with voters

Front organisations of the Congress have started connecting with voters in Rajasthan to bolster the party’s winning chances in assembly elections scheduled later this year, leaders said.

The organisations – NSUI (National Students’ Union of India), Youth Congress and the Women’s Congress – are working on programmes focused on creating awareness and connecting with voters down to booth levels.

The NSUI has appointed two coordinators at every block, who with other members will expose the BJP’s “failure to deliver on its promise to generate jobs,” said a senior member of the students’ wing’s state executive.

He said NSUI members would distribute specially designed pamphlets door to door exposing the “BJP’s failures on all fronts.” The coordinators would rope in new students.

“Appointment of new block presidents and two coordinators is 90% complete. Pamphlets have been designed,” he said.

“A new state executive of 35 office-bearers is being constituted, which will comprise former NSUI presidents, officebearers and elected representatives at colleges and universities. Posts in the executive will be given according to seniority,” he said.

NSUI members will start demonstrations against the BJP government’s “failures” from July 5, which will be participated by organisation’s national president Firoz Khan, he said.

The Congress has divided the party’s organisational structure at each assembly constituency into two blocks – there are 400 blocks, and around 51000 booths in Rajasthan.

The Women’s Congress has launched a ‘two workers at each booth’ programme. The workers are tasked with creating awareness and bringing women voters to booths.

“We have almost completed the work of appointing two workers at each booth,” said a senior state leader.

“In addition, three state-level coordinators have been appointed by the national party wing; districts have been assigned to them. They will hold workers’ meetings, training workshops, and social media awareness programmes at district and block levels.”

The state executive meetings of the women’s wing are now held in districts for a better connect with workers and officebearers, she said.

The Youth Congress is all set to constitute a 5-member executive at booths, and an officebearer will be given the charge of social media campaign.

“We will hold a Bharat Bachao Andolan in all districts in July. Rallies will be taken out to expose BJP’s failures to curb inflation, unemployment and corruption, and create awareness among masses,” said a state-level Youth Congress leader.

He said the state youth unit would soon appoint new presidents in 8-10 districts, apart from shuffling a few.

“Senior youth leaders are being incorporated in the state executive to enhance monitoring and strengthen the organisation’s working.”
