State leading destination for investment: Chief secy to Indian envoys to 9 countries
Rajasthan chief secretary DB Gupta on Wednesday said the state has become a leading destination for investment.
Addressing a gathering here of Indian envoys to nine countries, he said the state already has a name in tourism sector and now it’s time to promote it as a medical tourism destination and education hub.
Besides, Gupta said Rajasthan was leading in industrial textile, blended fabric and its export along with gem and jewellery.
He requested the nine envoys to become partners in the state’s industrial investment and economic activities.
The envoys said the state has potential in exporting marble, granite, pharmaceuticals, jewellery, textile and other construction materials.
Additional chief secretary (industry) Rajeev Swaroop said RIICO has developed 3,044 industrial areas in the state and Rajasthan is the first Indian state where 52 companies were successfully functioning in a Japanese industrial zone.
He said the second Japanese zone was being developed in the state and two skill development universities in the state are doing commendable work.Swaroop said the state emerged as a preferred destination for investors due to its strong infrastructure, easy availability of skilled manpower, effective administration and, law and order situation and huge availability of resources.
He said the state has huge possibilities of becoming a logistic hub looking to connectivity with major ports. Planning and IT principal secretary Akhil Arora told the envoys about the state government’s flagship schemes including Bhamashah Yojana, Rajshree Yojana, Digital India, e-mitra, e-governance, distribution of ration items through biometric system, Annapurna Bhandar, Bhamashah Swasthya Bima Yojana, Mukhya Mantri Jal Swavalamban Yojana, Kaushal Vikas, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and Nyay Aapke Dwar.He also told them that Rajasthan has topped the country in implementation of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
Indian envoy to Sweden Monika Kapil Mohta, envoy to Turkey Rahul Kulshreshth, envoy to Ireland Vijay Thakur Singh, envoy to Serbia Narinder Chauhan, envoy to Algeria Satbir Singh, envoy to Malta Rajesh Vaishnaw, envoy to Azerbaijan Sanjay Rana, envoy to Niger Rajesh Agarwal and envoy to Iraq Pradeep Rajpurohit informed about their respective countries. They briefed the state government officials about possibilities in industrial coordination and in the field of partnership.
In the meeting, all senior officials from various departments were present. Industries and Bureau of Investment Promotion commissioner Krishna Kunal said on Thursday these envoys would meet and dinner with CM Vasundhara Raje.
