After a delay of 10 weeks, the BJP finally appointed senior leader and Rajya Sabha MP Madanlal Saini as president of Rajasthan unit.

The announcement was made on Friday evening by the party’s central leadership in Delhi.

Saini’s appointment is been seen as a victory of Vasundhara Raje camp as she has successfully resisted the attempts of party’s central leadership to appoint union minister and Jodhpur MP, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.

Saini is a former MLA from Udaipurvati in Jhunjunu and has also held different posts in Rajasthan BJP. He was Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh general secretary and president of state unit of BJP Kisan Morcha in the past. He has been associated with RSS since his youth. He hails from Sikar and belongs to the Mali samaj, to which Congress leader Ashok Gehlot also belongs and have reservation benefit under other backward class. (OBC).

The BJP leaders who know Saini say that he is soft spoken and has always been a grass root worker of the party.

“The BJP has always given prominence to the grass root workers. Madanal Saini has been the office-bearer of different wings of the party in the state and so has a vast experience. He will get full support from everyone in the party,” former state BJP president Ashok Parnami said.

Shekhawat, in a tweet, congratulated Saini on his appointment as state BJP president.
