A 33-second video of a woman shouting at Uttarakhand CM TS Rawat has gone viral in the state. It was shot during his visit to Gueen village of Pauri district where a bus accident claimed 48 lives on July 1.

The woman, identified as Asha Devi, a resident of Bhopati village, lost eight members of her family in the accident. In the video she is seen charging at Rawat and his security personnel, saying, “Niklo yahan se warna pathar mar dengey hum” (Leave or else we will pelt stones at you).”

Dilip Singh Rawat, legislator from Landsdowne, who can be seen in the video, confirmed the woman was upset. He said, “She was upset as police didn’t allow her to go near the dead bodies.”

Asha could not be contacted for her version. Local residents said that her relatives had come from Delhi, Ghaziabad and Khatima to attend a religious prayer and were returning on the day of the accident.

Virendra Singh Rawat, village representative of Bhoun, who with his supporters helped the administration in relief and rescue work, said, “The woman was a relative of a deceased who died in the accident,” he said. “The agitation is obvious. The MP of Pauri has never visited us neither any official from administration. The condition of roads and transport is pathetic.”

Residents complained about the poor condition of roads and a lack of transport facility. “The government gave us no choice but to step on overloaded buses. There’s hardly any facility,” said Sarojini Bisht, a villager.
