After days of speculations that Bharatiya Janta Party is planning to form a government in Jammu and Kashmir with the help of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) dissidents, BJP general secretary, Ram Madhav said that BJP is in favour of continuing the Governor’s rule in J&K in the interest of peace and development.

After five PDP legislators openly revolted against party leadership and former chief minister, Mehbooba Mufti, former deputy chief minister and senior BJP leader, Kavinder Gupta had hinted at forming the government in the state.

On Saturday, Ram Madhav replying to National Conference(NC) vice president, Omar Abdullah’s tweet said that BJP is in favour of continuing the Governor’s rule in the state.

‘Not true. I will certainly check with d state unit n ensure that BJP keeps itself scrupulously out of whatever is happening in other parties in d Valley. We are for continuing with Governor’s rule in d interest of peace, governance n development in d state (sic),’’ tweeted Ram Madhav.

Earlier, Omar Abdullah in a tweet had saying, “Contrary to @rammadhavbjp assertions the state unit of the BJP confesses to being party to the efforts to break the @jkpdp. Power at any cost would seem to be the guiding philosophy’’.

Former deputy chief minister, Kavinder Gupta said that they have recently left the government, “but, once situation will improve. We could consider to form a new government as the assembly is in suspension.’’

Gupta said that this can be only done once the situation improves.

After former chief minister, Mehbooba resigned, around five legislators, Imran Reza Ansari, Abid Ansari, Abdul Majeed Padder, Abas Wani and Javeed Baig have openly revolted against the party and blamed former J&K chief minister and PDP president, Mehbooba Mufti for turning party into the family fiefdom.

Even the legislators hinted that they could form government by keeping the family of Mufti away.

The revolt within the PDP is led by legislator from Pattan and former minister, Imram Reza Ansari.

“There are more legislators with me than Mehbooba Mufti,’’ Ansari said.
