Chief minister Vasundhara Raje will formally kick off her election campaign by taking out ‘Suraj Gaurav Yatra’ in August. While the dates are yet to be fixed, the yatra will most likely be launched from August 1, sources said.

The decision was taken at a meeting held between Raje and other senior party leaders from Rajasthan with BJP chief Amit Shah at his residence in Delhi on Tuesday. Newly appointed state BJP president Madanlal Saini was also present during the deliberations that lasted about 45 minutes.

During the meeting, the leaders discussed the strategy for the upcoming assembly election in the state besides deliberating on the organizational changes.

Shah is also likely to visit Rajasthan soon. The state party unit will soon be revamped with new faces to be inducted at district and block level.

Sources said that a detailed roadmap for the proposed yatra is being finalised to avoid any last minute glitches. The party

leaders are being apprised of the impending plans for the yatra, which will have specially designed buses apart from cavalcade of party workers.

During her visit, she will be interacting with the public, party workers, religious leaders and is likely to be felicitated by different communities. Raje will also be taking feedback on various welfare schemes.

This would be Raje’s third yatra since 2003 when she first took over as state chief minister. She had earlier undertaken Parivartan Yatra and Suraj Sankalp Yatra.

Raje was earlier scheduled to take out 75-day Suraj Gaurav Yatra from April 15, but it was postponed after the then state party unit president Ashok Parnami resigned. The yatra was to kick off from the tribal-dominated division of Udaipur to highlight the BJP government’s achievements in the state. Instead, Raje started Jan Samvad Yatra wherein she started visiting different districts for three to four days.
